more louisiana sleaze as they try to be "victims" of the hurricane.?

The jerkwipes at this metairie, Loserana hospital billed my insurance $12,000 for extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy. I got Blue cross and it isn’t covering it. Is there a way I can sue these people for being the crooks that they are? Just because their swamp trash hospital is in a slump since the hurricane, they figure they can rip me off.

You should have checked with your insurance BEFORE you had the procedure to make sure it was a "covered benefit".

If it was supposedly "approved" prior to your surgery, you can appeal it to Blue Cross and/or contact the Louisiana Insurance Commissioner.

Can anyone explain what PPO and POS means regarding health insurance?

I am shopping around to see if i can afford health insurance and i would like to be prepaired in making a decision when i get contacted with insurance quotes…i live in Louisiana if that helps.
and in terms i can understand..

Preferred provider organization (PPO): More flexible and with a slightly higher premium than an HMO, a PPO allows you to venture out-of-network at your discretion and does not require a referral from a primary-care physician. However, the $5 to $10 co-payment provides you with a financial incentive to stay in the network. Straying from the PPO network means that you pay the cost of your treatment in full, and then submit the bill for reimbursement to the insurance company. A PPO generally reimburses 80 percent of out-of-network costs.

Point-of-service plan (POS): POS plans are almost a hybrid of HMO and PPO plans. Like an HMO, you designate an in-network physician to be your primary care provider. However, like a PPO, a POS plan lets you go out-of-network. But when you go on your own, you’ll have to pay most of the cost, unless your primary care physician refers you to an out-of-network doctor. Then, the health plan will pick up the tab.

What is the best way to keep health insurance when changing jobs.?

I have been fighting cancer for 7 years now and i am also in the middle of changing jobs. My current employer has given me health insurance but when i change jobs the 60 day probation period will put a gap in my insurance coverage. Since i have pre-existing condition for the new employer’s insurance a gap of coverage means they can deny me or charge me a lot of money for coverage and not to mention the treatment will not be able to continue without insurance. What are my options about this problem, I live in louisiana.
Thanks

You can either COBRA your insurance from your previous employer(a very expensive proposition. They can charge up to 125% of cost) or check with insurance companies, such as State Farm, etc..

What makes a Community Organizer/Lawyer qualified to lead healthcare reform?

Shouldn’t someone who’s worked in the healthcare industry lead the reform, like say, Senator Bill Frist: A cardiovascular/transplant surgeon who studied Public Healthcare Policy at Princeton and medicine at Harvard Medical School?

Obama studied International relations at Occidental College and law and Harvard Law School, before working as a ‘community organizer.’ Where are his management or medical qualifications? He doesn’t even have an MBA or economics degree!

He’s an executive.
That’s his job.
A doctor doesn’t have to have cancer to treat it.

What is the best private health insurance company (low cost) for employees without sponsored employer plans?

Need independent health insurance. Employer does not provide plan. State is Louisiana. Existing Blue Cross Blue Shield policy with current employer, but would need to continue independent coverage with BCBS upon changing jobs or locate another low-cost provider. Any advice helpful. Thanks.

just fill in a free form and get a quote from these people here http://gsx1.com/InsuranceComparison.html they’ll provide results from a number of different USA insurers
hope it helps

Whats a good health insurance company for when the baby is born.?

Is there any inexpensive insurance companys. I am financialy not able to provide the best but I want to atleast have health insurance on the baby. I am looking at affordable.

I live in North Louisiana.

They all cost about the same, except for welfare health insurance.

You can try to get your baby signed on to your state children’s health insurance program, which is a division of Medicaid. Besides that, it’s going to cost about $150 a month. That’s just what it costs.
