How many Democrats are featuring their votes in favor of Healthcare reform in their campaign adds?

Why not? I thought we were all going to love Healthcare Reform… Once we passed it and found out what was in it. …. remember.. we have to pass it to find out whats inside.

Few are. Because the American people have been lied to by the right, it would be electoral suicide for many politicians to point out that they voted in favour of the reforms.

I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it?
Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2].
Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected to do this [3].
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4].
FACT – American insurance companies pushed up prices and worked to stop paying out claims on those they covered before the reforms came in [5].
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [6].
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage.
If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.

Healthcare Reform

In late march 2010 Congress passed Healthcare Reform, also known as Obamacare. President Obama signed this hugely unpopular Healthcare Reform bill into law, forever altering the American health insurance market. Amendment 63 is Colorado’s answer to Obamacare. This video paints the grim reality that awaits our future generations. Even though this video is lighthearted, don’t take our message lightly. For many, it could mean the difference between life and death.

If the same healthcare reform had been presented by a Republican, how would the conservatives have responded?

If it hadn’t been Obama, but a Republican who strived to implement exactly the same Healthcare Reform as him, how would the conservatives have reacted?

If you look at the facts about the reforms, they would have been in favour of it.

Remember, these reforms are too right wing to be put into place in the UK.

Why does no other developed nation have the old US model of healthcare? Because in the US model, before the reforms, insurance companies used death panels to deny care to those they were meant to cover. And then they raised costs [1]. Not only does the USA spend more on healthcare than any other nation [2], it finds itself bottom of the table when it comes to preventable deaths due to treatable conditions when it comes to developed nations [3]. The sad thing is that rather than focus on these things, the right spreads lies and half truths about the reforms and how healthcare works abroad [4]. Even sadder is the fact that the reforms are so simple [5]. But, if you think that my points are wrong, e-mail me with proof.

Health Care Reform: The Hank Factor

In which John, who is kind of a fiscal conservative, uses the example of Hank to show how the current American health care system disincentivizes economic growth and entrepreneurship and argues that a public insurance option (even like the hodgepodge one in Montana) does not result in public bankruptcy but a more efficient and productive economy.

Chellie Pingree – Rules Committee – Health Care Reform Bill

Rules Committee – Health Care Reform Bill. Over 70 amendments were not allowed to be discussed/debated on the house floor. As a result, the USA ended up with a crappy bill and taxpayers that are angry and determined to have it repealed… ( and vote out Chellie Pingree(D) of Maine.)
